My landscape paintings explore the relationship between place, memory, and time.
I am interested in landscape not simply as scenery, but as a space that holds traces of human presence, experience, and change.

I paint places that carry an emotional resonance for me—places that evoke a particular moment, a feeling, a sense of belonging, or perhaps something that can no longer be fully recalled. Memory, however, is not only personal. Landscapes also carry collective memory: the histories, stories, movements, and experiences of the people and generations who have passed through and shaped them. Some of these traces are visible; others remain embedded in the atmosphere and character of a place.
My paintings move between observation and recollection, between what is physically present and what is suggested or imagined. I am drawn to landscapes in transition— changed by season, weather, light, distance, or the passage of time. Through colour, atmosphere, and form, I seek to evoke the shifting nature of perception and the way a familiar place can become something different through memory.
The act of painting is itself a process of slowing down and paying attention. It allows me to linger with a place and to consider what it might hold beyond what is immediately visible. In this sense, the landscape becomes a space for reflection—
a place to pause within the demands and acceleration of everyday life.

I hope the paintings offer the viewer a similar opportunity: a moment of quiet attention in which personal associations, memories, and questions can surface. Rather than presenting a fixed narrative, I want the works to remain open, allowing each viewer to bring their own experience of place, loss, belonging, and time.
For me, landscape is continually changing, yet it also retains something of what has come before. A field, shoreline, path, or stand of trees can become a meeting point between past and present, between individual experience and shared history.

A Space That Remembers reflects my belief that places can inhabit us as much as we inhabit them. Through painting, I seek to create spaces where observation, memory, emotion, and imagination come together—spaces that invite us to look closely, to reflect, and to consider what a landscape carries, what it has witnessed, and what we carry with us.
